The group was started to help answer questions on how to grow the different types of Dendrobium species. It has since spread from just the state of Florida in the United States, to multiple countries all around the world. You can use this website and the Dendrobium Species Facebook group to find other Orchid and Dendrobium enthusiasts near you, no matter which country you live in. If there is no local chapter of an orchid society in your area, then why not start your own. Once you have a group together, you can find out from the AOS (American Orchid Society) how to become a recognized chapter society, or just have your own unaffiliated society.
Dendrobiums are extremely varied orchids, the second largest genus in the orchid family.
Different Dendrobium species grow anywhere from cool climates to hot climates and the different species and sections bloom at varying times of the year so that there are always different Dendrobiums blooming every season; so with minimal plants, you can have orchid blooms all year round.
The different species' flowers can last from a day to months at a time.
For information and descriptions about the different sections, please join and go to the "Members only" section. The most commonly grown sections are available, lesser known sections will continue to be added until they are all added.
